Quad Cities Disc Golf Club
Minutes of Meeting
May 16th 2007

Chairman, John Resch, called the meeting to order at 7:05 with 17 members present. John read the minutes and they were accepted after corrections.

Committee Reports:

Merchandise: Dan Swords reported that he has $369.00 on hand. He has made an order for custom club stamped discs. Dan is operating under a new policy that he will only be purchasing disc models that have proven to sell in the QC area. This policy will help to alleviate having too much inventory that doesn’t move. Dan ordered CFR’s as fundraisers for Devils Glen Park. He has numerous models including glow aviars, TLs, Teerexs, star kites, and black Ontario Rocs. He has started a raffle towards CFR disc. The raffle will start with 3 discs, after every $30 raised an additional disc will be added. Tickets will be sold for 1$, 12 for $10, and 25 for $20. Dan will keep providing plastic to HyVee as long as we still have slow moving merch on hand. After this, we will help HyVee and K&K place orders on a 7% commission. $160 was raised at Doubles following the park dedication at Middle.

Tournaments: Chase reported the following dates as possibly available to hold tournaments like Camden Doubles, Iron Man, and the Iowa St. Championship. June 16th, July 21st/22nd, Sept 8/9th. The gathering of members are looking to see if July 21st could be a date that would work for Iron Man. The Iowa St. Championship is another high priority to find a date for. These discussions were moved to committee, meeting The following Weds (May 23rd) at the Moline IHOP at 8PM. Our next area tourney is scheduled for July 1st- The Iron Lion Safari, in Geneseo.

Treasury: John reported that $25.50 was given to Tim for postage for the last mailing that went out. We also approved the purchase of a lock box for Dan to carry with merchandise. The total has a total of $1,968.00. Kelly brought up the idea of offering Jay and Des Reading a lifetime membership.

Bettendorf Parks Improvement: Debt still owed approx $6,000.

Courses:
Westlake: all baskets have been installed!! Lots of trimming and grooming was done to the course before the tournament.

Middle: lots of work like clearing and chipping has been done. Lots of trash removed from the course. Thanks to everyone that has helped prepare the course for playing RCR.

Eagle: K.C. is trying to set up a workday in the next 2-3 weeks.

Geneseo: Hole 2’s basket needs to be moved, the park extended the parking lot, running right through the fairway. Options were discussed on how the holes might be reconfigured.

Eastern: Missing signs at Eastern. Benches have been installed.

CamdenII: Breaking ground in Sept. 07. New nickel signs for all baskets at Camden. Sat May 19th, workday to move a few baskets because of erosion. Contact Paul for more details.

Leagues: the Handicapped League was discussed, Dan Thompson has volunteered to run and crunch the numbers for this league. Monday nights are a strong possibility for this league. Friday Glow league is set to resume Friday the 25th of May at Camden, 9PM. Potential moving of Sunday league at Camden to West Lake.

New Business:
John brought up the possibility of a Strategic Planning Committee, whose purpose would be to figure out ways to recruit new members.

Sept 9th there is a Milan Appreciation day to the City, Paul’s Dad suggested trying to incorporate a clinic of some sort into this event.

There was also the discussion of trying to have more club orientated fun activities, K.C. suggested a camping trip.

John brought up the possibility of putting in a bid for combined Pro/Am worlds for 2010 and 2011. There was a lot of interest for this.

There being no new business, the meeting was adjourned at 9:20PM.

Respectfully submitted by,
Kelly Welch
QCDGC club secretary.
