Quad Cities
Disc Golf Club
Minutes of Meeting
October 25th 2006-
Tim Miller called the meeting to order at 7:34pm with 12
members present. The minutes of the previous meeting were read and approved
with no additions or corrections.
Committee Reports
Treasurer- John Resch
reported on the status of funds. The old account was closed by Jeff Johnson and
transferred to John, with a balance of $1,617.35. The club donated $100 added
cash for the ILDGS Dispatch/Argus tournament. This donation was approved by Tim
Miller. Opening a new club account is in the works.
Merchandise Committee- Dan Swords reported that the
club has made $537 in sales this month. A bill to Innova
for the purchase of black Star Wraiths for $240 dollars was paid. Dan currently
has $375 on hand. He has reduced the inventory to 750 discs. There is a $750.50
outstanding invoice from Hy-Vee, they will be selling some merchandise (Innova
golf bags) back to the club so we can sell that at the original cost to the
club. Jeremy Smith has expressed interest that he would like to sponsor 2
holes, one at Middle and another at Hollowview, at
$300 a piece. Dan also reported that he has raised the prices of all discs by
$1. Dan is not planning on placing an order for any new discs until the spring.
The order of club t-shirts was also discussed which are given out when members
join the club. The club might also order collared shirts. Research and options
will be explored by Dan and others and presented to the club at a later date.
Dans report was accepted by the members present.
Old Business
Bettendorf Debt- Tracey Lopez presented a report to the
club about the outstanding debt owed by the QCDGC to the city of Bettendorf.
She met with Steve Grimes the head of Parks and Recreation for the city and
discussed the grant information. Currently the club owes $2,240 by the first of
next year. It was deduced that this figure comes from the signs at Devils Glen.
This money can be earned by getting sponsorships for the holes at the course.
In addition to this debt, the club is also responsible in helping with the
balance of signage cost of both Middle and Hollowview
courses, estimated at $6,000-7,000 dollars. This debt can be paid by a monetary
contribution or donation of labor and equipment. It is also expected that the
club help with the design and construction of these signs. Sponsorships for
these holes will also be sought out. Tim Miller will be planning a meeting with
Steve Grimes to make sure that the club and the city are on the same page as
far as the debt is concerned. He will report back at a later date.
New Business
K.C. Randall reported that a project to construct a new
park at Eagles Point Park in Clinton has been given the go ahead, with $16,000
in funds to be used.
Club reform- So far only two proposals have been laid
out. Chad Eng proposes to stay with the current setup with changes and
additions to the constitution. Tim Miller also proposed that the club change
from a four member leadership to a council of eight representatives based on
geographical (ward) divisions. Some discussion was held and several ideas were
introduced in regard to both proposals. This issue was tabled until next
meeting. Please bring other proposals and or questions about the already
presented ideas. We hope to narrow the number of proposed options down in the
near future. Discussion is also encouraged on the Board under the thread
"New Club Structure Proposals."
